The Forts inc Kilitbahir Castle, Gallipoli

When the Royal Navy tried to force it's way through the Dardanelles, before the idea of the Gallipoli landings was thought of, it was fear of the forts that was originally uppermost in the minds of the Admirals. As it turned out it was the minefields that did the damage. The mines are gone but the forts remain.
