Scrubby Knoll is where Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk) set up his forward HQ. The big difference between Turkish and British leadership was that Kemal & von Sanders were always near the front, British leadership was in the rear.
"All the soldiers fighting with me here at this war should be definitely aware of the fact that in order to fully carry out the duty of honesty bestowed on us there shall not be a single step of retreat. I remind you that looking for sleep and rest that this resting would mean the deprivation not only of us but for the entire nation forever". Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
