Now the Turk is a "wily enemy".

The Australians have their "usual dash" in "annoying" the enemy by using their own guns against them.

And the "captured weapons" that will "ultimately be sent to Australia";

The AWM does not list them.

Here the Australian's quickness of mind is too much for "the Turk".

The Aussie shot the "pig's snout with 2 protruding eyes".

Didn't some one remember that the Turks are Muslim.

They consider pigs "dirty" animals and would have nothing to do with a pig's carcass under any circumstance.

Great story.

Partly true.

Tubb was awarded the VC.

So were TWO (not five) of his comrades.

Throssell was awarded the VC. He did fight bravely at Hill 60.

He was NOT the only one not forced back. Many stood their ground.

Throssell was 5 feet 11 inches tall, NOT "7 feet of gallant manhood".

Forget all the stories and pictures taken at the time showing that the Turkish trenches at Lone Pine were well constructed and with pine log roofing.

That must all be wrong.

This card assures us that they were in a sandbank with loopholes.
