No Australian was awarded the VC at Gallipoli for rescuing comrades under fire.

Simpson (of "with the donkey' fame) was VC nominated twice for acts of courage in rescue work but both were rejected as was a DCM.

And very few pieces of ground were as flat as that pictured.

Still, it sounds good. Great for morale on the home front.

 Yes of course.

The Otago Regiment was so fearsome that the Turks had no option but to kiss their hands and surrender.

I wonder why they didn't get a free tour of Istanbul at the same time.

What nonsense.

Of course the Turks were "cleared out in double quick time".

After all it is not just an Australian on the case it is "big Dave Browning" from Queensland.

Who ever doubted the outcome?

To say nothing of Billy Sing who is credited with up to 201 kills as a Gallipoli sniper.

Five days unconscious with sunstroke?

Hmmmmm.... sounds like awful medical treatment to me.

Bombs (or hand grenades as they are now called) were of absolutely no use against barbed wire.

Nor were they of "various kinds" except for the home made ones.

Nor did they normally have a 5 second fuse.
