The Image on the Card The Story on the back The Truth
If "attempting a landing on a rocky shore of insurmountable cliffs against terrific fire" was impossible, why were the Anzacs there?

There were no cliffs at Suvla Bay.

There were no Aussies or NZers there either. At Anzac landing there were no Brits.

So just where is all this taking place?

It just shows that even though the Turk is "clever" the brave Anzacs can out-smart him.

It is easily done.

Just knock up a dummy or two or use "other means" and then capture that sniper...

He has "met his match".

Sort of makes you wonder why we withdrew.

Yes it was hard to dig trenches. But the Turks had the same problems. They did NOT have a pre-existing series of "well-nigh impregnable" trenches.

No-one thought that the Allies would be stupid enough to attack where they did.

But don't worry nothing has daunted the courage of the brave Australians

Mostly true. (This refers to the charge at the Nek).

What it doesn't mention is that the second wave was also totally destroyed.

As was the third and, nearly, the fourth, in a stupid, murderous frontal assault into entrenched machine gun and massed rifle fire, in daylight.

Nothing like an "impromptu concert", a game of cards and a sing along to pass the time.

Anyone for tennis?

Seems a pity to spoil a good holiday by getting shot or shelled or blown up.

Come on. Another chorus of "Home Sweet Home" please.
