The trousers were red (Pantalons Rouges) as was the kepi (hat) in some units, blue in others.
The tunic and the coat were blue.
Khaki was issued to their Colonial troops and the Foreign Legion.
At the same time the "Adrian" steel helmet replaced the kepi.
