Shooting Team

Captain Norm Fry representing 1 ATF at the Free World Forces Competition Shoot.

While Australians may be good soldiers, the sudden requirement of 4 RAR/NZ to produce champion pistol and rifle shots on behalf of the Australian Task Force did strain the resources. Nevertheless, a team was fielded and did do reasonably well. The team competed in the Free World Competition shoot conducted at Van Kiep training ranges near Baria in Phuoc Tuy. Competitors included Koreans of Olympic standard, Thais, Vietnamese and Australians.
  • Not a bad result that fourth in an international shooting competition (but with only FOUR countries competing?).

The opposition - they won.
