Assault Pioneer Platoon |
The Assault Pioneers, coupling their specialised skills with those of the rifleman came to Courtney finding it just a little different from the normal fire support base concept. In a short time, the rock-like feature had been converted into a defence installation and it was suggested that movies be cancelled and a dance be held in the main command post.
With the aid of the Kiwi section, the pioneers assisted in the construction of a Tactical Operations Centre at Sector Headquarters, Baria. This combined with much patrolling, broke the common boredom and assisted in making time pass as quickly as possible. |

Regimental Police
Section |
The Regimental Police Section's jobs were many and varied, from supplying members to Vung Tau to work with the Provost, normal duties in Nui Dat and a RP sector when deployed in the field in a fire support base role.
Both Kiwis and Australian members of the section were split from Vung Tau to Courtney Hill and the only time that we saw each other was on the two days R & I in Vung Tau and passing through Nui Dat on our way down.
With Courtney Hill dismantled, the section was together again, just in time to move to the Ap An Phu lines and open up two check points when Task Force moved to Vung Tau. |

Led by the unassuming, generally smiling Assistant Adjutant, the battalion clerks assaulted mountains of paper warfare and in their spare moments took part in the mammoth productions of written orders.
