A rifle company, although in itself an entity, consists of
some five separate groups. Each of these groups - the three platoons, company headquarters and company rear developed
it's own personality and character. Some of the company characteristics
for which each group of B Company was noted, are listed below.
- COMPANY HEADQUARTERS WAS NOTED FOR:
- Pipe stops instead of smoke halts.
- "You know very well when I say east I mean west".
- Biscuit's fear of his scar fading before returning
home.
- Logarithms on the boat patrol frequency.

- 4 PLATOON WAS NOTED FOR:
- The Phantom, Zeke and The Rat and his Q Store.
- An affinity for ants and hills and chocolate milk.
- Andy and Humphrey B Bear.
- Finding pipes.
- Using a marker balloon.
- HMAS 2 1.
- Lack of practice in the squatting position.

5 Platoon |
- 5 PLATOON WAS NOTED FOR:
- 2000 metres more patrolling than necessary.
- Odd-job bwana and the Korean R & C centre.
- Debonair Dunn and Big Bunkers Batson.
- The LSD (Logs, Snake, Dutchy) problem and their
contact at the west gate.
- The 200 metres missing from the map.
- The week that the boss couldn't take a trick.

6 Platoon |
- 6 PLATOON WAS NOTED FOR:
- Spending the entire tour proving they weren't the slowest platoon in the company.
- The only robot controlled M79 in South Vietnam.
- The Dude of Canungra, Ryan's Roughriders, Kirkey's pigs and Oldie's clothes.
- 6.5 platoon in hospital (Sister Clayton's tormentors) and their subsequent convalescence.

- COMPANY REAR WAS NOTED FOR:
- The Stass Star - more widely read than any operation order.
- HMAS Music Box and the Kernel.
- Excellent barbecued steaks and fried Sergeant Cooks.
- Stink Feet Bennet's sock wash.
- Mine host "Pop Atley".
- Toad Hall and giant chicken eating frogs.
- Some quotes which we believe revealing and worthy of recording
are:
- "You know when we say heavy left from the east at 0930 with four aircraft, we mean line astern from the south at 1030 with three aircraft".
- "Come the revolution, guess who'll move their aerial".
- "You can't touch me you Provost B .... !!"
